what makes you a believer

I have strong doubts in the veracity of the Christian (or any) belief in God.
What makes you so faithful?

I see a lot of inconsistency in the Bible.
I see a lot of things which sound so dependent on the views of a specific cultural environment. Shouldn't an eternal truth be independent? Why is Man's imperfection shining through?
The books of the Bible have been chosen from many books - there were Concilia for this. Who says the right books have been chosen?
They are said to be inspired by God. Who decides this?
