Rights, privilages, etc.

I'm going to speak secularly first, then religiously, so bear with me.

A right which cannot be enforced is a right only in theory. Ditto with privilages.
To be meaningful, a right or privilage must be protected by some enforcing body. It doesn't matter if you think the right to speak freely is a government-granted right, a God-granted right, or an inherent right of man which is self-existing - if someone succeeds in suppressing your free speech, it might as well be no right at all.

Some people claim driving is a right, others claim it is a privilage. If someone successfully stops you from driving, well, if it was a right it isn't a right for you.

Now, from a religious perspective:
Whether you believe there is intelligent life on other planets or not doesn't change the fact: either there is, or there isn't. We as humans just don't know yet. Some psychics will claim "yes, I've spoken with them," others are as sure as day that the entire space program is a hoax and there are no other planets, much less life. Which is right - is there intelligent life out there or not? My point is your and my "belief" is irrelevant, in large part because there is no proof one way or the other.

It's similar with dieties. There is no proof, beyond the proof one sees in his own heart, that a god, goddess, or constellation of divine beings exists. Having said that, whether you or I BELIEVE there is a god (or gods) doesn't change the FACT that there are god(s), goddess(es), other dieties, or no diety at all.

I have interacted with God, but not in a way that is proof to anyone but me. For me to say I have proof God exists would be illogical. I can provide strong evidence (Josh McDowell does it better in his book "Evidence That Demands A Verdict" - a must-read for any non-Christian who wants to argue that God does not exist), but I cannot provide proof to anyone except myself.

If anyone can prove unquestionably that God or any other diety is a deity, I want to see it. "Show me the money" (no pun intended - this isn't tele-rapeyourwallet-evangelism).

PS: I see the arguement for and against "gay rights" to be one more of politics, not religion. Politics in the name of religion, perhaps, but not religion.
