Hi Mark, Yes, masturbation is quite common among young boys. Because it is common and physically harmless, does not make it conclusively harmless from a spiritual standpoint. For me, masturbation which began at an early age, turned into an absolute obsession, and an addiction that I am only beginning to become aware of. You are unlikely to find a BL who did not begin masturbating at an early age. I am not saying that it MUST lead to sexual problems, but that it can become an enslaving habit. I believe that the longer a child can remain a child, not needing or endulging in sexual feelings, the better off they are. For those children who do encounter it early, good information about abstinence and avoided obsession will go a long way towards sexual health as adults. This of course is my opinion, based on what I have learned from talking with others. I am well aware of the fact that MANY MANY boys masturbate from early ages and turn out fine. There are many people who drink beer at the age of 12 and do not become alcoholics either. I smoked like a chimney at age 15 and never smoked again. You get the point, I think. You are not alone.
