I don't know what Beloved's intent was in sharing this story, but I understood Forgiven's reaction to it. The impression that I got from Beloved's post is that we should all just love one another and be grateful that boylovers like dear old John Kemp are willing to give the neighbourhood boys sexual release that doesn't involve getting the neighbourhood girls pregnant. (And also, one presumes, that they are willing to take "No" for an answer once they've started fiddling about.) After all, Jesus did say that he fulfilled the law and that he gave us a new commandment: "That you love one another."

The problem that I have with that is, if anyone dares to question the warm-and-fuzzy speak no evil "love ethic," they are treated as heretics. "How dare you question our absolute truth that the only absolute truth is love and acceptance?"

Yes, we are to love one another, but there are several other passages in the New Testament which speak of fleeing sexual immorality. I'm not convinced that it's loving to keep silent when people are turning aside from the truth according to their own desires. However, we were warned that the time would come when "they" will not endure sound doctrine. And "they" is "us."
