that so much of christianity has become associated with intollerence and a refusal to forgive those who do not live a certian way. The message of the gospels is one of tollerence and forgiveness. Think of some of the key phrases of the gospels. "Judge not, lest ye be judged", "forgive us our Trespassess, as we forgive those who tresspass against us", "let he who is without sin, cast the first stone"
Yes rights are god given, and given to us because god loves us all as individuals. But that does not mean that groups of individuals can not band together when they see their rights as individuals being denyed. The rights that you describe, the right to be employed, to have access to housing, to visit your loved one when he is sick, are individual rights. They are not group rights. The problem is that because you are a member of a group, there are those who would deny you your individual rights. The fact that they do so out of hatred, and do it in the name of the god of love is blasphamy.
God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. He gave his son for homosexuals and boylovers every bit as much as he did for Bishops and Baptists.
