Hey Jim,
I'm glad you're concerned enough about Ben to step in.
There's one thing I wasn't sure of, I thought it might be helpful to clarify. Are you attacking the notion of unbridled literalism in reading the Bible, or are you making an attack on the Bible itself, on any reading of it?

The difference is important, because if it's the former, then I can see how you're getting Ben to critically assess the way he's been taught to read the Bible, and that's fair enough. But if it's the latter, and you seriously believe all Christians are hypocrites for not calling for the stoning of all children who despise their parents, then I'd have to say I'm rather disappointed, because we've been over this ground before. It would be disappointing to learn that you never listened to a word that I or any of the others ever said.

I hope you don't mind me asking to clarify this point.
