Hi Heather,

Well, yes, I'd like to discuss constructive ways for Christians to deal with homophobia, and I think the first constructive thing that ought to be done is to end the silence.

Why are Christians here invariably silent when these matters come up? Your silence and tolerance of homophobia can only increase it. If people say nasty things about gays (like they are evil or they are cursed or they are possessed) and nobody denounces they hate, then those people are encouraged to continue.

I posted a thread here and asked if people thought I was possessed. So far, only one person has unequivicably posted to say that I am not. Even you avoided answering the question.

That increases the hate.

SGITNW is undoubtably now going to be encouraged to continue his hatred and homophobia and continue to label gays as cursed and possessed.

I am at a total loss to understand what can be so difficult about simply denouncing the hatred. How hard would it be for you to post and say, "No, Jim is absolutely not possessed by demons because he feels homosexual attractions?" Why won't you say it?

And no, links to gay, Christian groups is not really very interesting for me. Most Christians, after all, are not gay. Where are the mainstream Christian organizations - the ones that represent the bulk of Christianity - when it comes to opposing homophobia? That's what I'd really like to see.

And I'd love to see ordinary, every day Christians standing up and telling people like SGITNW that his hatred and slander has to stop and has to stop now.

And then maybe a little progress might finally begin to be made.

Jim
