More about Mary

Submitted by Sheesh! on January 07 2001 13:10:11

I understand that Mary was born without original sin, so that also makes Mary's mother holy.

First, I don't understand what original sin is. If I recall it was Eve eating the apple from the tree of knowledge. Why is the act of gaining knowledge a sin? Is it the disobedience of Eve for breaking God's law? But why would God want man to be without knowledge?

How was Mary's mother (isn't she also a saint?) born without sin?

Mary had many children after Jesus - in fact wasn't one son a disciple? Were they born with sin? I assume that since they were fathered by Joseph, they were born with sin. Isn't he guilty of destroying Mary's status. Would it not been better for her never to had other children?

Sorry, for asking so much, I cut out a zillion questions.

Thanks to all for your advice.
