Hi Everybody, I was very inspired by a reply post by The Happy Prince and I started to really think about the meaning of being a Christian. God's Word says that when we accept Jesus, we become "new creatures" in Him. We become His children. So many Christians picture God as some kind of big judge with a great big stick, just waiting for one of us to slip up so that he can beat us. His word gives us a picture of Him that is MUCH different. He wants us to call Him "father". Actually, the word He uses is "Abba", which is really a more intament word, like "daddy". God wants us to be THAT close to Him. And so, when we accept His Son into our lives, our relationship becomes a father/child relationship. I did a study (and I'm still doing it) about who we are as Christians. It is a fascinating study and it is eye-opening as well. I know that I have started different studies and things here, but have never carried them through, so I don't think I can promise to keep this one up here either, but it IS a very good study so I will try to do the best I can. Who Am I in Christ I am God's Child: "having been born again, not of corruptable seed but incorruptable, through the word of God which lives and abides forever." 1 Peter 1: 23 "But as many as recieved Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." John 1: 12-13 "For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus." Gal. 3:26 "Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of His creatures," James 1:18 |
