Bible: Authoritative from God or Religion?

For the purposes of discussion "Fundamentalist" shall refer to those with the belief that God directly inspired the words written in the Bible and therefore the Bible is an ultimate authority in our life and relationship with Him.

Additionally "Christian" shall refer to those who believe that the man Jesus Christ was also the son of God, the redemption for our sins, and the way to a renewed walk with God non-dependant upon the aforementioned "Fundamentalist" position.

My question is: How do the Fundamentalist Christians among us come to the conclusion that the Bible is the authoritative source above all else in our lives?

This is of obvious major import and concern to us as BoyLovers and as Christians. Obviously from the tone of most of the board there is a strong or at least vocal component that is heavily Fundamentalist, but if there are any non-fundamentalist Christians out there I'd love to see some participation. I'm honestly questioning this aspect of Christianity and would appreciate some honest responses from people willing to dialogue back. Keep in mind to generate light and not heat! :)

Dive deep, seek peace, love forever,
Collin Maxwell
