That to ignore the basic tenets of the religion that you profess to follow is doing nothing to live up to the "spirit" of the religion. If you wish to call yourself a Christian then you should at least have some respect for the Bible. On the other hand, ignoring the basic tenets of your religion means that you're not following it anyway so perhaps you aren't a Christian...like you said.

If God is worthy of our faithfulness, he would not damn us for such meaningless things....

Basically what you are saying is: I am a Christian but damn God. I'm going to do what I want to do.
God created the tenets that you profess to believe in so God is the one you serve.
Saying that you will only serve God as long God's tenets are worthy of YOUR consideration is not following a religion. It is using that religion as a crutch when you need it.

Perhaps Jim was right... Christianity, as it stands today, is a cancer... A cancer that must be removed if there is to be any true freedom... Especially for the misguided souls who believe in an 'Emperor Deity'.

Christianity isn't the cancer. It is people like you who interpret the Bible as you see fit and don't really read the underlying message that's the problem.

Maybe Christianity is a dying religion, but in the bastardized form that people worship Him, I don't blame God for turning His back on this world.
