"7) Yes, I will agree that it can be dangerous to lift oppressive barriers, for safety barriers may come with them. But, perhaps my views are unfair to some... The weak-willed fools, with virtually no self-control... The poor bastard who can't refuse temptation... But, are we really unable to stay away from temptation, or are we unwilling?"

It isn't a matter of weak wills, or some poor bastards who can't refuse temptation.

The issue is the *gravity* of sexual activity, the seriousness of it.

We are used to thinking in terms of "consensual sex is OK" (as long as it's between consensual adults. But this is only a politically-correct fiction.

Sex is NOT good, it's a very weighty matter, and when you turn your attention to how seriously sexual assaults are taken, compared to various other types of assault, it rapidly becomes clear that the notion that "consensual sex between adults is perfectly OK" is an overstatement.

It's when you move into the area of non-consensual Adult-Adult sexual activity that you can much more easily see how seriously sex is viewed.

Throw a custard-pie at someone, or physically punch them, and you're likely to get off with a suspended sentence.

Assault someone sexually, and you'll probably go to jail.

This is the area where the politically-correct fog surrounding Adult-Adult sexual activity clears for all to see how negatively and how seriously sexual acyivity is *really* viewed - it's only clear for all to see in this particular area, because the conventional wisdom of Adult-Adult consensual sex being OK obscures the widespread undercurrents of negativity towards sex.

It is not Adult-Minor sex we are talking about here; it is RAPE. Statutory Rape. That's what it's called, and all efforts to claim the boy consented to it, or even that he asked for it first, are doomed to failure for as long as rape and sexual assault are viewed as being very serious.

If you frame the question not in terms of the question "Can men have sex with boys"; but in terms of the question "Can men engage in Statutory Rape; - or "Should we give kids the Right to invite men to Statutorily Rape them" you will see the difficulties more easily.

The question is not one of Rights, but of Rape - Statutory Rape.
